Metallica axeman Kirk Hammett founded KHDK Electronics with industry vet David Karon. The company has released several guitar pedals over the past few years and have now unveiled their latest creation, the Scuzz Box fuzz pedal.

Hammett named the pedal because of the dirty, skuzzy vibe it emits. It features both the Scuzz mode (a grating fuzz with a ripping texture and buzzy tone) and the Fuzz mode (melodic, richly fuzzy).

Eagles of Death Metal's Dave Catching says, "Most fuzz pedals I've tried sound cool on high notes, but once you get into a rhythm you can't tell the notes apart anymore...it's just a wash of fuzz. The Scuzz Box doesn't mute any notes and maintains clarity."

Karon says, "We created the Scuzz Box to shine through in the mix; it can be used for soloing and long, wailing tones and its clarity is even perfect for power chords."

The Scuzz Box is available for pre-order through select dealers. For more information on the pedal, go here.

Hammett will next have the opportunity to use the Scuzz Box in a live setting when Metallica play a show at the brand new U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn. on Aug. 20. They'll also play the Global Citizen Festival in New York's Central Park on Sept. 24.

Metallica may play new material at those gigs, as their long-awaited 10th studio album is expected to be released in October.
