Papa Roach unleashed their latest album, F.E.A.R., in January, and the entire band recently stopped by Loudwire headquarters to discuss the disc.

In Part 1 of our interview with singer Jacoby Shaddix, guitarist Jerry Horton, bassist Tobin Esperance and drummer Tony Palermo, the band talks about heading into the studio and writing the entire album without any previously written material. "For me as a lyricist, it was quite terrifying," says Shaddix. "It was a pretty bold move on the band's part."

The album also experiments with more electronic sounds than Papa Roach's previous efforts, and as is the case when a band explores new directions, there is a certain amount of backlash from old-school fans. How do Papa Roach react to the negative comments? Check out the video above to hear their answers.

Catch Papa Roach out on tour this spring, and pick up the album F.E.A.R. at iTunes.
