Here’s a fact that may blow your mind — Corey Taylor’s famous “sun and moon” chest tattoo is unfinished. Inked by the legendary Paul Booth, the artist has been trying to get Corey back in his tattoo chair for 20 years… and he’s laid down a challenge for Slipknot’s vocalist.

Booth has known Corey Taylor since Slipknot were handing out free cassettes at Ozzfest. After becoming fast friends, Booth invited Slipknot out onto the first Tattoo the Earth tour, where Corey’s chest piece was committed to skin.

“It didn’t heal as well as I would like it to have healed,” Booth reminisces. “So every time I see him in the last 20 years, I’m like, ‘C’mon, you’ve gotta let me finish and fix up your chest.’ I swear the day will come that I’m going to trap him in a corner and finish his chest.”

“I need that session, man. It’s not done yet for me,” adds Booth. “Stronger black shadows and some background… a couple hours is all I need. So Corey, if you’re watching this, it’s time to finish that tattoo, buddy. I dare you.”

Booth also tells a story about inking Slipknot percussionist Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan. An avid supporter of the arts, Clown was willing to give his right leg for an experimental collaborative tattoo, where six artists worked simultaneously to ink a Slipknot logo with added background.
