As Poison the Well continually defined their sound throughout the 2000s, they were always one step ahead of the post-hardcore and metalcore bands they so strongly influenced with their debut full-length, 'The Opposite of December.'

While the flux of metalcore bands were taking over the underground metal scene, Poison the Well remained one of the genre's most innovative bands as their music continued to take strange twists and turns. The opus 'Apathy is a Cold Body' was released on the 2003 full-length 'You Come Before You,' and perfectly displays the atmospheric and experimental direction PTW explored before their 2010 hiatus.
