These two new-school titans have brought live performances to very new places. The key word for them both is "intensity." Check out what we mean in this Round 1matchup in our Best Live Band bracket.

Where do you begin with Slipknot? The guys used to legitimately set each other on fire. Now that Slipknot is playing arenas and stadiums, the live show is a little more contained, but brilliantly elaborate with the sense of danger very much in tact. Like Corey Taylor once told us, anything on Slipknot's stage can kill you, whether it be flamethrowers, spikes, percussive contraptions that extend tens of feet in the air and of course, the stage diving of DJ Sid Wilson.

The Dillinger Escape Plan may put on the most intense live show on the planet. After putting out Calculating Infinity in 1999, which remains one of the most insane albums ever written, DEP began carving out a path of destruction completely unrestrained by venue rules. Fire breathing, jumps from ridiculous heights, self-inflicted cuts and some very rough interaction with fans only scratches the surface of the live Dillinger experience.

So will Slipknot or the Dillinger Escape Plan earn your nod for the better live act? Let us know by voting in the poll below. You can vote once per hour through the deadline of Tuesday, July 14 at 10AM ET.
