Staind’s Aaron Lewis on Limp Bizkit’s Wes Borland: ‘F–k That Motherf–ker’
The war of words between Aaron Lewis and Wes Borland is quickly devolving into a case of the he-says, he-says bulls--t, as the Staind frontman lashed out at the Limp Bizkit guitarist over the weekend in Las Vegas, Nev. during a solo show. Appearing this past Saturday (Apr. 14) at The Orleans Hotel & Casino, prior to performing the Staind hit "Outside," Lewis had some choice words for Borland, including "Fuck that motherfucker." Video of his tirade can be viewed below.
The bad blood stems from an incident that took place some time ago when the two ran into one another at an airport. Borland detailed the exchange this past December on the Talk Toomey podcast.
"[Lewis] came up to me in an airport randomly, I happened to be going back...I was visiting my parents in Jacksonville, and flying back to L.A.," Borland said. "And he’s like ‘Where ya headed?’, I just happened to run into him and hadn’t seen him in awhile...And I went ‘I’m going home.’ And he goes ‘Home?’ and I went ‘Yeah I just visited my parents, I’m going back home to L.A.’. And for the record I’ve lived in L.A. longer than any other city in my life. He goes...Aaron looks at me and he kind of turns his chin up and goes ‘Nah man, remember where you came from, Florida is your home, not L.A.. That’s home.’ And I just went ‘Fuck you man.’ And I never talked to him again after that.”
Borland went on to call Lewis a d--khead, a "disgusting person" and said he was terrible.
“Wes Borland, who I love dearly, who obviously has some fucking things to say about me," Lewis responds in the clip below, beginning at about the 1:40 mark. "Fuck that motherfucker. I know that I started this with ‘I love him dearly,’ because he’s part of the whole reason that I’m standing here right now in front of you. And I find it really fucked up that...this is what happened, okay? This is how it happened. This is exactly how it happened. And I don’t know how the fuck he came up with what he came up with. But I’m gonna tell you what happened."
Lewis says he saw Borland riding a golf cart to his airport gate and that the two ended up at gates close to one another. Lewis said he missed him then asked where the guitarist was headed.
"He’s, like, ‘I’m headed home - to Los Angeles,’" Lewis says. "And I’m, like, ‘Hey, motherfucker, that ain’t home. Remember — you’re from Jacksonville, fucking Florida.’ That’s how it went down. Have you seen the interview? Have you heard the podcast? That’s how it went down. Brother, don’t forget where the fuck you’re from. You’re from Jacksonville, Florida. You’re not from Los Angeles, fucking California. You’re from Jacksonville. You’re a real person. You’re not the plastic, fucked-up people that live in fucking Los Angeles.'"
Lewis then called Borland a "bougie motherfucker," and gave sole credit for "Outside" to Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst, who co-produced Staind's album Dysfunction, and brought the band along with them on the "Family Values Tour" in 1999.
Borland responded with a screenshot to his official Instagram page of a text message someone apparently sent him with a link to the story. "Hopefully this means that I never have to endure interfacing with him again," he wrote back.
