Suicidal Tendencies Premiere Converse Collection (And New Album)
Suicidal Tendencies celebrated both their new album, their history and their line of Converse gear over the weekend in Boston. They played a blistering gig at Boston's Houses of Blues on Sept. 7 that promoted their new album, STill Cyco Punk After All These Years, but the setlist featured lots of old-school classics, including "Suicide's an Alternative," "Subliminal," "I Want More," "Suicidal Failure," "Institutionalized," "Possessed to Skate" and "Pledge Your Allegiance."
Earlier in the day, they debuted their new Converse X Suicidal Tendencies collection. Several members of the band were proudly sporting their Converse onstage for fans to see. (See the Converse X Suicidal Tendencies collection, as well as photos from the show, in the gallery below).
"When I was young, I still remember getting my first pair of 'Chucks' for my birthday and how stoked I was to wear them to school the next day," said vocalist Mike Muir in a statement about the partnership and his longtime love of Converse (he was, of course, referring to Converse's iconic "Chuck Taylor All-Stars" shoes). "It was almost like a rite of passage, the beautiful thing about them is whatever 'direction' you were headed, you could go there with your Chucks."
Tim Bergevin, Converse’s VP of Influencer Marketing told us, “Like Converse, Mike and Suicidal Tendencies have always led from the front. Their independent spirit reflects the same values and spirit of the Converse brand which made a collaboration with the band a no-brainer.”
You can order gear from the Suicidal Tendencies X Converse here. Meanwhile, you can also pick up the new STill Cyco Punk After All These Years disc here. Look for the band to continue touring in support of the disc, with dates currently booked into late October. See their current itinerary here.
