If there’s one thing you can count on at a professional sporting event (besides a few convicted felons on the field) it's loud, rocking music.

There’s the standards: "Rock N Roll Part 2," "Start Me Up," "Don’t Stop Believin'" and of course, "Eye of the Tiger." All good stuff there, no doubt. But, it’s the heavy hitters that get the home crowd and home team more juiced up than Alex Rodriguez after a Biogenesis delivery.

Now sure, for us hard rockers and metalheads, some of the following songs are overplayed, but cranking them at top volume at game time could give your team the extra competitive edge they need. Who needs ‘roids when you have ROCK?

So play the following PED’s (Performance-Enhancing Ditties) loud and proud and let’s…PLAY BALL!

    "Cum on Feel the Noize"

    Quiet Riot

    Album: Metal Health

Sporting sonnet:Cum on feel the noize, girls rock your boys, we’ll get wild, wild, wild…”

When you’re a 15-year-old metalhead and you pick up an album called Metal Health and the word “cum” is one of the song titles, say goodbye to your lawn mowing money for the week.

    "The Final Countdown"

    Europe

    Album: The Final Countdown

Sporting sonnet:We’re leaving together but it’s still farewell, and maybe we’ll come back to Earth, who can tell?…”

THE most iconic keyboard intro in all of rockdom and the album you might have kept hidden behind your copy of Metal Health.

    "We're Not Gonna Take It"

    Twisted Sister

    Album: Stay Hungry

Sporting sonnet:We’ve got the right to choose it, there ain’t no way we’ll lose it, this is our life, this is our song…”

Not only an iconic rock video but an iconic rock anthem that could inspire any athlete to victory. Unless, of course, you’re fighting Ronda Rousey.

    "Panama"

    Van Halen

    Album: 1984

Sporting sonnet:Got the feeling, power steering, pistons poppin’, ain’t no stoppin’ now…”

To this day I love that line “Reach down between my legs and, ease the seat back.” The flight attendants on United, not so much.

    "Rock You Like a Hurricane"

    Scorpions

    Album: Love At First Sting

Sporting sonnet:The night is calling I have to go, the wolf is hungry he runs the show…”

An undeniable hard rock anthem but I recently heard it used in a Fiber One commercial. I s--t myself. I didn’t need Fiber One after seeing that.

    "Blitzkrieg Bop"

    Ramones

    Album: Ramones

Sporting sonnet:Shoot ‘em in the back now, what they want I don’t know, they’re all revved up and ready to go…”

Nothing funnier than watching 20,000 sports fans shout HEY HO LET’S GO, then sit silently until the HEY HO LET’S GO part comes up again.

    "Crazy Train"

    Ozzy Osbourne

    Album: Blizzard of Ozz

Sporting sonnet:Mental wounds still screaming, driving me insane, I’m going off the rails on a crazy train…”

This crazy classic could get any team pumped up to play. Or at least snort some ants and drink their own urine.

  • 3

    "Thunderstruck"

    AC/DC

    Album: The Razor’s Edge

Sporting sonnet: “Sound of the drums beating in my heart, thunder of guns tore me apart, you’ve been thunderstruck…”

No matter what sport you play, this Aussie anthem will get you more pumped up than a caffeinated Zakk Wylde at the local Gold’s Gym.

    "Welcome to the Jungle"

    Guns N' Roses

    Album: Appetite For Destruction

Sporting sonnet:In the jungle, welcome to the jungle, watch it bring you to your knees, knees…”

Hopefully this jock jam inspires athletes to give their all and not to show up two hours late for the game.

"We Will Rock You / We Are the Champions"

    Queen

    Album: News of the World

Sporting sonnet:We are the champions, my friend. And we’ll keep on fighting ‘til the end…”

Somehow Queen has become the sports rock anthem Kings! Each song more epic and majestic than Troy Polamalu’s hair.
