During this year’s Chicago Open Air festival, we caught up with VIMIC / ex-Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison and VIMIC frontman Kalen Chase to discuss the band’s plans for their debut album, Open Your Omen, and an upcoming mystery tour.

Since parting ways with Slipknot in late 2013, Joey Jordison has remained busy starting up new projects like VIMIC and Sinsaenum. The latter band released their debut, Echos of the Tortured, in 2016, and now with VIMIC carving their path with major tours and festival appearances, fans are excited to hear VIMIC’s full-length debut.

“It’s definitely gonna happen this year,” Chase says about releasing Open Your Omen. “We can’t give the exact date out because we’re working all the nonsense out with the finishing of it.” Jordison adds, “We had to make adjustments on release dates to make sure to maximize exactly what we want to do with the touring. So right now, touring is the most optimal thing that we’re doing right now to make sure we set up the record so the anticipation will be a little better. We went through a remix and everything and the record sounds awesome. We can’t wait to get it out.”

VIMIC are planning to spend much of 2017 on the road and the band have some exciting touring plans coming, though they couldn’t name names quite yet. “We have some stuff that’s being booked now,” Chase says. “We can’t get specific, because I love just saying that ‘F.U.’ to everybody. We’re going to be out a lot the end of this year, we’re going to be doing stuff all through next year.”
