The nominees for the 61st Annual Grammy Awards are officially in, recognizing a number of rock and metal acts across four categories.

"Music's Biggest Night" will take place in Los Angeles on Feb. 10 of next year, airing on CBS at 8PM ET and a total of 84 golden gramophones will be handed out throughout the night. Will we finally see rock return to the main stage, or will these awards be handed out in the pre-telecast once again? That remains to be seen, but what we do know are the nominees for Best Metal Performance, Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song and Best Rock Album, Best New Artist and Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package which are listed below.

Last year's winners included Mastodon, who earned their first Grammy Award after receiving several nominations in the past, winning the Best Metal Performance category for the Emperor of Sand track "Sultan's Curse." Meanwhile, the Foo Fighters nabbed Best Rock Song with "Run," The War on Drugs were awarded Best Rock Album for A Deeper Understanding and the late Leonard Cohen's "You Want it Darker" took Best Rock Performance.
