Rockers React to the Death of Joey Jordison
The music world received the news Tuesday (July 27) that longtime Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison had died at the age of 46. The family of Jordison was the first to reveal the news issuing a statement on the matter, but as you might expect there was plenty of reaction in the rock and metal community about the loss of one of the most respected drummers in the genre.
"We are heartbroken to share the news that Joey Jordison, prolific drummer, musician and artist passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 26th, 2021. He was 46," stated Jordison's family.
They continued, "Joey’s death has left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sorrow. To those that knew Joey, understood his quick wit, his gentle personality, giant heart and his love for all things family and music. The family of Joey have asked that friends, fans and media understandably respect our need for privacy and peace at this incredibly difficult time. The family will hold a private funeral service and asks the media and public to respect their wishes."
In addition to Slipknot, Jordison's career included work with Murderdolls, The Rejects, Scar the Martyr, Vimic and Sinsaenum, keeping the musician active in his post-Slipknot career.
Members of Anthrax, Sons of Apollo, Trivium, Hatebreed, Underoath and Fear Factory were among the first to share their reactions to Jordison's death. So did Jordison's onetime Vimic bandmate Kyle Kokiel. See a sampling of reactions to the death of Joey Jordison below and we'll continue to add to this list as more tributes and memories are posted.
