As the late '90s turned to the 21st Century, a new batch of bands began to emerge with great live shows. And two of those acts are matched up in this first round pairing as we set out to determine the best live band in hard rock and metal.

We start with California rockers Korn, who have developed a great live show over the years. With the heaviness of the rhythm section (Fieldy and Ray Luzier), the killer dual guitar attack (Munky and Head) and the captivating frontman Jonathan Davis, Korn have earned their loyal following of fans with brutal, intense and emotional live performances.

Meanwhile, a little further south in California, System of a Down were cultivating their own impressive live show. Led by the impressive vocal range of Serj Tankian, with support from the inventive guitarist Daron Malakian and hard-hitting rhythm section of bassist Shavo Odadjian and drummer John Dolmayan, the group only enhanced the sound of their songs live. Simply put, System leave their audiences rocked to the fullest.

So, who will it be -- Korn or System of a Down? Let us know which you feel is the better live act by voting in the poll below. You can vote once per hour through the deadline of Tuesday, July 13 at 10AM ET.
