Motionless in White’s Chris Motionless Discusses In This Moment Inspiration, Jonathan Davis Collaboration + Embracing Vocals
Loudwire Nights host Toni Gonzalez caught up with Motionless in White's Chris Motionless at Rock on the Range, and the frontman opened up about a wide range of topics, including the band's new album, Graveyard Shift, touring with In This Moment, working with Korn's Jonathan Davis and truly embracing his vocals for the first time in the studio.
Chris starts out by talking about how the band branched out musically on their new album, Graveyard Shift, citing Slipknot as an inspiration. "I listen to Slipknot, and I'm like, 'God, that's so sick, Slipknot has a ballad next to a really heavy song next to a mid-tempo song.'"
Motionless in White just wrapped up a tour with In This Moment, and Chris revealed how he was inspired by frontwoman Maria Brink and the rest of the band. "They're so amazing at creating a world ... They have that 'become the show' mentality ... and I really think they have found a way to help people get into a show on a much deeper level."
Later on in the interview, Chris delves into Motionless in White's collaboration with Jonathan Davis on the new track 'Necessary Evil,' explaining that the "song itself is very Korn influenced."
Finally, Chris discusses his approach to vocals on the new album, saying that he put his singing at the forefront for the first time, and explains why he didn't do that in the past.
