Yungblud Turns Jim Croce Classic Into ‘Fast & Furious’ Soundtrack Rocker
Has Yungblud turned into Mr. Sensitive Songwriter Man? Not quite, though his new cover of the Jim Croce classic "Time in a Bottle" does start off quite faithful to the original. It may initially seem like an odd choice to be included in the Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw film series, but as you'll hear, it eventually makes sense.
It's hard to imagine the energetic singer pulling back this much, but the solo acoustic guitar intro gives ways to his tender, forlorn vocal. But, being Yungblud, you knew he wouldn't stay restrained for long, and the track eventually comes hurdling at you with the jarring switch to fuzzed out heavy guitars and pulse-racing frenzy. Yes, he does pull back a bit to the somber chorus, but updates it with grittier production that takes the listener on a rollercoaster ride, fitting of the action in the Hobbs & Shaw flick.
The soundtrack for the film also includes such pop and hip-hop leaning acts as Aloe Blacc, Logic and Yonaka, while recent Marilyn Manson and Bush collaborator Tyler Bates serves as the composer of the film's musical score. The soundtrack arrives today (July 26) and can be purchased here.
While the Hobbs & Shaw soundtrack is a nice get for the emerging artist, Yungblud continues to tour in support of his 21st Century Liability album. He's currently on tour in Europe and dates and ticketing information can be found here.
