Gwar singer Oderus Urungus was one of the first artists to not only support Lamb of God's Randy Blythe after he was arrested in the Czech Republic, he was also among the first to single out the lack of mainstream media coverage for the musician.

Now the vocalist, aka Dave Brockie, is taking things a step further by hosting a Randy Blythe legal defense fundraiser Aug. 31 at the Canal Club in Richmond, Va., Blythe's hometown. All proceeds from the show will go to Blythe's legal defense.

So far, TheGauntlet.com reports that bands confirmed for the evening include Cannabis Corpse, Kung Fu Dykes, Throne From Royalty, Gloominous Doom, Little Ozzy and several others.

For a majority of the last month, Blythe has remained behind bars in the Czech Republic on a manslaughter charge relating to the death of a fan at a show over two years ago. The singer's attorney recently stated that his bail, which had been raised, has been paid and he's expecting the vocalist to be free in the very near future.

As for Gwar's singer and his support of Blythe, earlier this month he tweeted, "If this was a pop artist, the media would be all over this. That's right - I am f---ing appalled by the LACK of concern in the U.S. media for the fate of Randy Blythe … Naw, just because Randy is in a nasty metal band, you can just throw his ass in jail anytime you want. The whole music media should come the f--- out and condemn this arrest and detainment."
