Korn’s Munky: Tye Trujillo Is an ‘Exact Duplicate of His Dad in Every Way’
Korn made headlines recently when they tapped Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo's 12-year-old son Tye to fill in for Fieldy on their South American tour. Fieldy had to skip the trek due to "unforeseen circumstances," but Tye filled in like a champ, winning over fans and making big headlines along the way.
Loudwire Nights host Toni Gonzalez caught up with Korn's Munky at the Rock on the Range festival in Columbus, Ohio, and the guitarist had nothing but praise for the young bassist. "That kid is an exact duplicate of his dad in every way," said Munky. "He's modest, he is a prodigy [and] he's just naturally talented. It's written in his DNA."
Munky added, "I remember the first time I jammed with him. I went over to Robert's house ... and I was a little skeptical. He just started ripping. I barely had to show him anything. He had it 95 percent nailed."
Later on, Munky also discusses the fan reaction to Tye Trujillo filling in for Fieldy, and talks about the musical inclinations of his own two young sons, saying one of them has "frontman written all over him." Check out the video above to see the full interview.
Fans can catch Korn, with Fieldy back in the lineup, out on their upcoming headlining Serenity of Summer tour with Stone Sour, Skillet, Babymetal and others. For a list of dates, head here.
